The travel ban in the Boundary Waters and the Border Route Trail has been lifted, and the trail is again accessible.

| 2007 US Forest Service Saw training schedule |

The US Forest Service saw certification training to operate cross-cut and chain saws on federal lands is scheduled for the weekend of Arpil 21/22 at Bunker Hills regional park in Anoka county. You can sign up for either of two days: Saturday, April 21 or Sunday April 22. Please email the Kekekabic Trail Club to sign up and include your name, a contact phone number and which day you would prefer.

As of yesterday, the Forest Service has reopened the Border Route Trail west. That section of the Border Route Trail has been closed due to increased fire danger and the presence of the Famine Lake fire in the BWCA.

Due to dry conditions, high fire hazard and the Famine Lake wildfire, the US Forest Service has closed the West Border Route entry point. (MS Word Document) Please check with the Ranger station in Grand Marais for further information.

Although the Forest Service has reopened many areas
affected by the recent Cavity Lake wildfire, the Border Route
Trail and the connecting trails remain closed until further

Due to the high fire danger in the area and the current wild
fire around Cavity Lake of the Boundary Water Canoe
Area, the US Forest Service closed
the Border Route Trail and its connector trails until
further notice.

for public use beginning Friday, August 12 due to
increased fire danger in the area. The trail will

| Presentation at Midwest Mountaineering Tonight |

There will be a presentation about the Border Route Trail
and other trails in Minnesota at Midwest
Mountaineering. The BRT presentation will start about
7pm and go for about 15 minutes, with questions after
that. If you are curious about the trail, stop by and get
a feel for the trail - and its history - before setting
foot on it.
