2007 US Forest Service Saw training schedule posted

The US Forest Service saw certification training to operate cross-cut and chain saws on federal lands is scheduled for the weekend of Arpil 21/22 at Bunker Hills regional park in Anoka county. You can sign up for either of two days: Saturday, April 21 or Sunday April 22. Please email the Kekekabic Trail Club to sign up and include your name, a contact phone number and which day you would prefer.

Border Route open again posted

As of yesterday, the Forest Service has reopened the Border Route Trail west. That section of the Border Route Trail has been closed due to increased fire danger and the presence of the Famine Lake fire in the BWCA.

Although the Forest Service has reopened many areas affected by the recent Cavity Lake wildfire, the Border Route Trail and the connecting trails remain closed until further notice. Please refer to the US Forest Service Announcement about trail closures (pdf format).

Due to the high fire danger in the area and the current wild fire around Cavity Lake of the Boundary Water Canoe Area, the US Forest Service closed the Border Route Trail and its connector trails until further notice.

Presentation at Midwest Mountaineering Tonight posted

There will be a presentation about the Border Route Trail and other trails in Minnesota at Midwest Mountaineering. The BRT presentation will start about 7pm and go for about 15 minutes, with questions after that. If you are curious about the trail, stop by and get a feel for the trail - and its history - before setting foot on it.
